With the coming of the new century, Yichun University (YCU) was established in Yichun City in Jiangxi Province, where Confucianism had been flourishing for a long and an academy of classical learning had stood in great numbers in the Tang and Song dynasties. The cultural tradition produced many talents such as Song Yingxing, the Ming Dynasty science pioneer, and Wu Youxun, a prominent modern physicist who brought the city fame.
The new school covers an area of 1250 square meters and is built to high standards. After 4 years of construction, Jiangxi has a modern, garden-like campus. It is located at the foot of a hill and on the banks of a river. The school now has over 19,779 full-time registered and adult students and 1,000 staff, 633 of whom are teachers (including 233 professors or associate professors, 10 specialists eligible for government funding and 17 provincial subject leaders or core teachers).
YCU’s motto is creativity, development, and reform. The university successfully raised enough money on the financial market to build the campus, optimized the structure of specializations to meet the needs of the labor market, and focused on technical innovation and research reform. That is why it now has a new look. The research and development of Mew’s anti-hepatitis virus drug -ursolic acid and its preparation is one of the 863 plans, the national scientific research plans, and occupies a leading position in its fields. Meanwhile, the research program is regulated by a market mechanism that helps to orient future scientific R&D towards the market. Since 2000, scientific research has entered a highly developed YU period. Faculty members have published more than 1520 scientific papers, 37 translations or textbooks, and conducted 81 provincial scientific studies.
YCU has been welcoming international students since 2006. All students have received systematic training, and through their hard work, most of them have obtained a bachelor’s degree. In addition, many students of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program have passed the practitioner qualification certificate examination in their home countries. YCU has abundant teaching resources and a quality teaching and research strength that guarantees that students can acquire the best theoretical and practical knowledge. On this beautiful campus, you can also feel the great learning atmosphere from every corner of the campus.
